Documents which are notarized and forwarded to another country require verification or legalization of the notary's signature and official title prior to their acceptance by the foreign embassy or consulate of that country.
Department Verifies
Sometimes certain countries require more than the signature and seal of a notary. The Secretary of State, located in Baton Rouge, is the department that verifies the validity of the notarial signature and who can verify if the notary is in good standing.
